如果只有哪些懂科学的人有权力作出判断，必然会说，哪些不懂科学的人没有判断的能力，从而在事实上剥夺了不懂科学者的判断权利。
这就是科学对民主的破坏。引一段话：
the requirement...that people should be experts, or at least fluent, in science...before giving their view about it...is contrary to the basic tenet of our democratic societies. Democracy is a bet: the bet that conscience should take precedence over competence. We do not require an expert, nor even an "amateur" level of knowledge in constitutional or criminal law before allowing citizens to use their voting rights or participate in a jury. Why should we be more demanding concering technical and scientific matters?
